"Popcorn John" dominated our Main Street Scene - where he and his rig were a fixture. John Johnson, back about 1908 or earlier, dashed out into Mitchell Street to stop a frenzied runaway horse, driven by Mrs. W. Cummer. He grabbed the bridle, held on to the end, but was dragged and trampled to the point where he could never walk again.
